'LAND'                 7 Nov - 20 Dec

Picture
Nigel Brown 'True Consent'. From the a series of works titled 'Albatross Neck' built around Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Each painting is a tableau connecting with the poem through the use of its verse and themes. Each is also a unique assemblage that can stand alone as a visual unity. (Oil on linen $9500)
LAND is an exhibition which portrays perceptions of and relationships to the land. The depth of that relationship is determined by how the land is perceived; as a gift to be cherished and nurtured, a giver of sustenance and wisdom or a resource to be
exploited and exhausted.
Our hope for this exhibition is that it raises awareness of our place in the world, on this earth, and facilitates greater appreciation, humility even, for the privilege of our presence here.

Giving such regard to our place on the land encompasses the wisdom with which we live in the world.

In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
Tao Te Ching
